Green Card |
trick of green card lottery |
Serge Smithtown |
Dear Lev, I need your help.
I heard that playing the Green Card Lottery can be dangerous for a person living outside the US. As if the US government kept the special record of those who want to immigrate. And those who have NOT won the lottery have a little chance of obtaining any kind of non-immigrant visa in future. Do you think it is true?
I'm worried because I want to bring my fiancee here (I'm a refugee), and she played the DV-lottery once.
Thank you.

Let's set the question in another way. Do you know any people who, having been the unsuccessful participants of DV lottery in the past, did receive tourist (or other non-immigrant visa) after that?
And how can all this matter be legal if they do not require a signature in DV any more?
I appreciate your help.

Response for: Serge at 3/2/2004 7:29:00 AM I am exactly such a person. I played Green Card lottery unsuccessfully for three years before coming to the US on a non-immigrant visa and eventually obtaining asylum. Nobody can guarantee that you won't face any problems becuase of playing in DV lottery in the past, but I am sure there are huge numbers of people who DO get nonimmigrant visas in spite of playing in DV lottery.
Good luck!
